This is where I'll put my opinions which aged like milk (of which there are many!)
These are intended to be shared just for a laugh. Sometimes I think back on my bad takes and consider how out of step I was.
2004
- "The Nintendo DS is interesting, but it will ultimately fail as a product because two screens and the stylus control system is excessive, and too confusing."
2006
- "The Nintendo Wii will fail as well, largely for the same reasons. Gamers want a gaming box, not something that caters to non-gamers and has nonstandard controllers."
2007
- "The Simpsons will end once the movie comes out."
- "The iPhone is an absolutely absurd product. No one will pay $500 for a device that omits the keyboard and does everything your computer does, but worse." (In 2012, I bought a used one.)
- "Hillary Clinton will be the first woman to be elected President."
2008
- "Super Smash Bros. Brawl will go down in history as the best game in the series."
- "Mega Man 9's NES-like, 8-bit graphics are neat, but Capcom is going to have to follow it up with something that looks more contemporary."
- "Barack Obama will be America's next FDR."
2009
- "Michael Jackson's This Is It Tour is gonna be sweet."
2011
- "Going to college is going to be miserable, because I'll just be working my ass off the whole time and I'll have no time for friends." (I picked this one up from a high school biology teacher.)
2012
- "No matter how the election goes, I believe that in the near future, Americans as a whole will become more libertarian, as they realize that it's best to just let others do, think, and say whatever they want, with few red lines or restrictions." (I disavowed libertarianism in 2014.)
2013
- "Smartphone cameras are no good. There's no substitute for a dedicated digital camera, and people will continue to use them."
2017
- "Donald Trump is bad, but he ultimately won't be much worse than any other Republican. He's the same thing (with a different coat of paint.)"
2020
- "I think Americans are going to start voting more in-line with their economic interest in the 2020s. Trump is nakedly pro-business and anti-worker, and since working-class people are becoming more class-conscious, that'll lead them to vote more Democratic, because Democrats support the social safety net and labor unions."
- "Florida has been trending redder, but it's still a swing state. I think we're overdue for a Democratic victory, so I'm gonna predict that Biden will win it, even if only by a sliver."
2024
- "Grand Theft Auto 6 will release next year."
