Things to know about me:
- Been working in higher ed since 2015.
- Love to cook for my friends and family. Sometimes I make baked ziti in a cast iron dutch oven, other times I smoke baby back ribs on a propane grill that I've converted into a "smoker." (Hint: If you don't want to buy a smoker, get one of those smoker tubes, a butane torch, and a bunch of wood pellets. You're welcome.)
- Not fond of salad dressing. Olive oil and cheese is just fine. A little balsamic vinegarette never hurt.
- The cane sugar sodas in the glass bottles taste better.
- Recovering from the invasion of algorithmic feeds and AI slop that's everywhere out there.
- Very opinionated, but I hate to argue.
- Been researching genealogy since 2011. My grandfather started the project in the '90s. He was a cool dude.
- The GameCube is an "old console" to me, I'll admit it! But the Xbox 360 still isn't. (It's only like 7 or 8 years old, right...?)
- I'm silently observing the shifts in office culture which are happening. I don't think people are very conscious of these changes.
Things I don't bother with these days:
- Meetings.
- Pretending that a changing work culture doesn't affect the job itself, and the quality of the work getting done.
- Keeping up with your Instagram stories. So, no, I probably didn't see what you posted last night.
- The trending item of the moment. I used to feel tempted to weigh in on the current thing, but inevitably, people lose their fascination with it more quickly than I can smoke a rack of ribs.
- Being performative.
- Being "funny mean." Y'know what I mean?
